Each year, Google
brings together a group of compelling investable companies, from around
the world to highlight innovative technology and drive investment. Google's first Demo Day in Asia will be hosted in Sanghai, China on September 20, 2018.
Startups can now apply for Demo Day as the tech giant has now opened the applications.
Google Demo Day is an early-stage startup program which is held to help the early startups which are something innovative. Google has certain criteria for participating startups.
- Must be legally incorporated and headquartered in Asia.
- Must have raised at least $50,000.
- Must be seeking to actively raise $1M-$5M within 6 months of the event.
- Must have demonstrated traction through funding raised, revenue, customer growth, etc.
- Must be confident in presenting in English
"If the startup is selected then it'll receive mentorship and coaching from
Google to deliver the perfect pitch to a panel of distinguished
investors. They’ll experience an immersion into the Chinese startup
ecosystem by connecting with successful founders and community players.
While there, they’ll have the opportunity to meet top venture capital
investors from around the world and find out what they look for in a
startup", says Google.
In past months, we've seen Google agree to a partnership with Tencent, invest in China-based startups — biotech-focused XtalPi and live-streaming service Cushou — and announce an AI lab in Beijing. Added to that, Google gained a large tech presence in Taiwan via the completion of its acquisition of a chunk of HTC, and it opened a presence in Shenzhen, the Chinese city known as 'the Silicon Valley of hardware.'
Startups across Asia are building the products and services of our
future. We hope you’re just as excited as we are to cheer them on!
