YouTube removes more than 8 million videos in three months



YouTube removed 8 million videos from the platform within three months that was between October to December in 2017 as per its first quarterly Community Guidelines report.

YouTube has published a report about the growing complaints and violations of its policies. The company says that they are trying to tackle the abusive and hate content for the platform.

In the official blog post of YouTube said that "By the end of the year, we plan to refine our reporting systems and add additional data, including data on comments, speed or removal and policy removal reasons."

As per YouTube, "The report was the first and most important step to deal with the problem and it helps show the people our progress in achieving our goal to remove the content that is violating our platform's policies". YouTube said that it has removed more than 8 million videos (8,284,039, to be precise) from the platform between October to December in 2017. 


As per the post, YouTube removed more than 6 million videos which were flagged by their algorithm, out of those, approximately 76% were removed before the videos had even received a single view. "The algorithm is still getting improved", YouTube said.

YouTube also received some 9.3 million flags on videos from humans in the last quarter of 2017, with viewers from India, the US, and Brazil leading the charge in reporting clips.

YouTube has promised that they are constantly trying to remove such videos which violates the guidelines and policies of the platform and will try to eliminate it entirely from the system.
