YouTube announced the YouTube Partner Program policy changes for the existing as well as new creators. Are you a creator? Don't worry because here's each and every detail you need to know about the recent change in policy of the Partner program.
As YouTube tweeted, they're still trying to strengthen the community by preventing the platform from spammers.
So here are the changes that YouTube made in it's policies which a creator should need to enable monetization on their YouTube channels:
1. A creator/channel must have at least 1,000 subscribers. 2. A creator/channel must have at least of 4,000 hours of watchtime within past 12 months.
Before on YouTube, it was too easy to enable monetization and earn money but because of the increase in spam, soft porn and fake news, YouTube decided to add a new policy back in 2017 in order to stop it and they introduced a threshold for the new creators to enable monetization. The threshold was to have a 10,000 channel views to enable the monetization successfully.
But after crossing the 10,000 channel views, any creator can enable the monetization. Still the spammy fake news was spreading because 10,000 channel views was a easy run. So, YouTube introduced a new thing which is called 'Not Advertiser Friendly' sign, which actually was made for advertisers to choose if they want to display ad on the particular video. If YouTube algorithm finds any irrelevance in the video then it automatically gets a 'yellow dollar' symbol which disables the monetization for particular creators on the particular video. (The algorithm is still underdevelopment for better outcomes)
Now coming to 17th January 2018, YouTube introduced policy changes for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). The reason is still the same as was before but the steps taken are somewhat hard then it were before.

3. Any YouTube channel which currently have monetization enabled and isn't matching the threshold, will lose the access to every monetization tools.
YouTube has set the grace period of 30 days i.e. YouTube will implement the new policy guidelines/threshold from February 20th, 2018.
YouTube has tighten-up the rules to decrease spam and prevent the platform. It will all benefit in a long run. You can read the YouTube Creator Blog for more details.
