Facebook admits that social media can be bad for one's mental health
Facebook, world's biggest social network finally admits that being on social media can affect you negatively by disturbing your mental health.
In a blog post, Facebook’s director of research David Ginsberg and research scientist Moira Burke acknowledged that social media can leave people “feeling worse”.
They pointed out that passively consuming users are getting into problems. He also wrote: “In general when people spend a lot of time passively consuming information – reading but not interacting with people – they report feeling worse afterwards.”
Passively scrolling the news feed on Facebook and consuming useless data and information can make one feel bad and cause depression, anxiety and can even lead to suicidal thoughts, the thoughts, according to that blog post.
David Ginsberg tells that the Facebook has so many good affects on people's lives by connecting them with each other in the most simple way, that is by using Facebook.
