The app seemed to be having a very convincing preview images and the app icon seemed legit to many users. It was a 1.9 GB game with high-quality graphics and it was even having a video trailer at the beginning.

Ryan Moldenhauer, the director at Studio MDHR, said that the app is “100% fake.” He told CNET via email that “The company has no plans to bring Cuphead to iOS as of now.”

As the $4.99 app is declared as a scam, so Apple removed the app from it's App Store and now any user who have purchased the scam app will receive the $4.99 as a refund.
